Patriotic White Chocolate Pretzels

Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day. I love the patriotic holidays of summer. I love the backyard barbeques, the pool parties, and the bonfires. Mostly, I think I just love summer, the warm weather, and the time to lazily spend with friends and family. But no backyard barbeque would be complete without some patriotic swag. These quick and easy to make pretzels dipped in white chocolate are a crowd favorite. It's fun to decorate the pretzels with a random pattern or a flag design. Even the kiddos helped out with this one.

Ingredients:

Pretzels
White chocolate chips
Food coloring

Instructions:

In a small mixing bowl, place the white chocolate chips. Microwave the white chocolate until melted. Do not overheat because they will burn. I typically microwave for one minute and stir and then check in 15 second increments, stirring each time, until fully melted. After the chips are melted, I divide the mixture as follows. 1/2 remains white. 1/4 is placed in a baggie with red food coloring and 1/4 is placed in a baggie with blue food coloring. Massage the bag until the food coloring is evenly distributed. Clip a small whole in the corner of the bag for decorating.

Dip the pretzel in the white chocolate with a fork until evenly coated. Lay on a baking sheet lined with parchment or the silpat mats. Have fun decorating. It's best to work quickly because the white chocolate will harden. If it does begin to harden, you may be able to massage the bag with your hand or re-warm the white chocolate in the microwave. Allow the white chocolate to harden. If you are in a rush, the refrigerator or freezer allows them to solidify quickly. The kids and I had a lot of fun making and eating these.

3 Ingredient Glitter Slime

But the winner, by far, is the glitter slime. Something about those magical sparkles of glitter and my kiddos go crazy. Here is an easy, three ingredient recipe to quickly and magically concoct glitter slime on your kitchen table. Ingredients: Glitter (any color) 5 oz of Elmer's clear glue 1/2 cup of Elmer's magical liquid Instructions: Pour bottle of Elmer's clear glue into a plastic cup. Slowly mix in Elmer's magical liquid. Add glitter (about 1-2 tablespoons) depending on the desired amount of glitter. Stir until combined. Move mixture to table and knead by hand until well combined.
