Pizza Friday Date Night With a Twist

If you are anything like us, you have pizza at least once a week, usually Friday night. It is definitely a go-to food in our house. And our kiddos are always on the countdown till Pizza Friday! Yay! We have found that some pizza can be expensive depending on the location and type. We have also found that the quality of pizza can vary greatly from place to place. This is when we came up with our ingenious idea for a date night.

We were looking for good, affordable pizza and we decided to try all of the pizzerias within a few miles of our house. Yes, all of them. No, we didn't just order one pizza from each place week after week. No one wants to eat an entire pizza that they don't like that much. We had ONE date night and went to close to 10 pizzerias. Now, you can stop by any number that you have time and the stomach for. At each location we asked for ONE slice of pizza cut in half lengthwise to split between the two of us. A lot of people looked at us like we were crazy, but we just explained that we were trying out pizzas in the area and trying to find our favorites. Everyone touted their pizza as "the best" not surprisingly. A lot of the shops were nice enough to give us our single slice for free since their pizza was, of course, the best and we would be back.

At each shop, we rated the pizza based on crust, sauce, cheese, flavor, overall likeability, and cost. My husband and I have different criteria, you see. I'm more of crust girl and he's more into the sauce and cheese ratios. You may have a scorecard something like this, but you can use any criteria that's important in your pizza evaluation:

Crust
Cheese
Sauce
Flavor
Overall
Cost
Totals
Joe's Pizza

John's Pizza

Mario's Pizza

Gino's Pizza

Rocco's Pizza

Vinnie's Pizza

Sam's Pizza

After each shop, take a few minutes in the car to grade your experience. We used a 1-5 numbering system, with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst. After totaling up the numbers, the highest value is the winner! It's a super fun date night. We didn't spend very much. We had fun evaluating and disagreeing on the different components of pizza that we each like or don't like. I highly recommend it to those new to an area or exploring an area that they already love. And just think it doesn't have to be pizza, it could be beer, wine, coffee, or other local favorites. Have fun! Post below to tell me your experience.
